Council extends demolition deadlines and approves graduation fee waivers for district

At a Feb. 9 session, the Terrebonne Parish Council voted to extend demolition or removal deadlines on a series of condemnation and condonation orders for residential properties across the parish. Items included amended deadlines for properties at 221 Williams Avenue, 44721 Highway 56 Shawano, 228 Dixie Avenue, 151 Millennium Avenue, 110 Hillier Street and others; each motion was moved, seconded and adopted by unanimous recorded votes.
Councilors also approved a request from the Terrebonne Parish School District to waive rental fees (with setup fees still to be charged) for high school graduations scheduled at the Barry P. Bonvalance Civic Center on May 13, 18, 19, 20 and 21, 2026. The motion to approve the waiver was moved by Miss Abad, seconded by Miss Chauvin, and passed 9-0.
Several condemnation-amendment motions simply changed completion dates for demolition or removal; the motions were procedural updates to previously adopted orders. The council set no new substantive policy changes in these votes and moved on to additional business including a grant-application authorization.
The meeting record shows the body completed the batch of items and adjourned following routine procedural votes.
