Montebello — Assistant City Manager announced that the City of Montebello received $2.4 million in federal funding through Congresswoman Sanchez's office: $1,000,000 toward a Montebello Fire Department wildland station and $1,400,000 to modernize police radio communications.
The assistant city manager said the proposed wildland station will improve emergency response times and provide targeted protection to neighborhoods at higher wildfire risk. The radio upgrade funding is intended to modernize the police department’s communications systems to meet growing operational demands.
Officials encouraged residents to participate in the community budget meeting scheduled the following day at 6 p.m. at the senior center to provide input on spending priorities.
