A City Council committee on Feb. 11 confirmed Yolanda Regalado to the Los Angeles Board of Fire Commissioners for a term ending June 30, 2029.
Regalado, who introduced herself during the committee hearing, described her background as a former LA County deputy sheriff and the owner of a San Pedro coffee shop she said is "a community based coffee house, dedicated to first responders, military, police, and fire." Committee members cited her public-safety experience and community work in supporting the nomination.
Council member McOsker said he has known Regalado for some time and praised her public-service credentials and neighborhood work, including designating the intersection around her business as "First Responders Square." Council members noted her family's ties to firefighting and said those experiences would inform the commissioner's approach.
The clerk recorded a roll-call vote approving the appointment. The committee recorded five ayes; the item passed and Regalado was approved to serve through mid-2029.
Regalado thanked the committee for the appointment and said she hopes to "do a great job" for the board and the city. The committee moved on to other business after the vote.
