Norwalk council approves mayor’s personnel‑appeals board selections

The Norwalk City Council approved the mayor’s selections of personnel appeals board members for an upcoming appeals hearing at its Feb. 3 meeting.
HR presenter Karina Montes told the council the mayor had designated three members to serve on the appeals panel and named a backup. In the staff presentation the mayor’s selections were read and staff recommended approval of the board composition. The council moved and approved the recommendation by roll call; Council member Valencia, Vice Mayor Rios and Mayor Perez each recorded 'Aye.'
Staff said the selection follows the Norwalk Municipal Code process for convening a three‑person hearing panel from the five‑member personnel appeals board and that the affected employee and union representation had been notified. Funds for the appeals are available within the HR department budget, staff said.
The council did not discuss personnel matters on the record beyond confirming the selections and moving the item to approval.
