Yvonne Sotomayor Santos, president of Soroptimist International of El Centro, said the conference — part of a year-long series of workshops and events for girls aged 10–18 — had significant regional participation and partner support, including planned involvement with NASA and reporting to the Soroptimist International Foundation.
Councilmember moved and seconded the sponsorship approval; the motion passed 5–0. Santos said the organization would submit an impact report to the city following the event.
No additional conditions or funding commitments were recorded beyond the $500 sponsorship approval.
