Vice president proposes draft board letter to governor supporting education priorities

At the Jan. 23 special meeting, Vice President Sprague proposed that the Taos Municipal Schools Board draft a letter to the governor thanking her for highlighting education priorities in the legislative session and expressing the board’s support for several items the vice president said align with district priorities. Items Sprague mentioned included a push for at least 180 school days, restrictions on student cell-phone use in schools, and proposals related to childcare and daycare supports.
President Flores and other board members supported the idea in principle. Vice President Sprague said she would draft a letter, coordinate with the superintendent and circulate the draft for board signatures.
The board did not take a formal vote on the letter during the meeting; the vice president volunteered to prepare a draft and coordinate signatures.
