Flossmoor School District 161 Superintendent Dana announced at the board’s Feb. 10 meeting that this will be his final school year in the district after being appointed to lead Community Consolidated School District 15 in Palatine, Illinois, beginning July 1.
“Last evening I was appointed to be the next leader of Community Consolidated School District 15 in Palatine, Illinois, and I’ll begin that role on July 1,” Dana said during his superintendent’s report, which also recapped a recent institute day focused on special education and planning and previewed an upcoming STEAM night at Parker Junior High.
Board members briefly responded to the announcement with thanks for his nine years of service. The board chair told the public the district will work on a smooth transition and noted that personnel-related comments would be reserved for executive session later in the meeting.
Dana said staff feedback on the recent institute day was positive and that the district will continue professional learning activities in the coming weeks as it prepares students and teachers for the rest of the school year.
The board did not announce a timeline or a process for selecting an interim or new superintendent at the public meeting; it moved into executive session to discuss personnel matters after completing the evening’s action items.
