Clear Creek teacher Vicki Wright honored as Texas Teacher of the Year

Vicki Wright, a 14‑year classroom teacher at McWhirter Elementary, was honored by the Clear Creek Independent School District board on Oct. 27 after being named the 2026 Texas Teacher of the Year. The board played a video featuring Wright’s teaching philosophy and student testimonials and said she will represent Texas in the national Teacher of the Year competition.
The recognition was introduced by Paige Rander of the Association of Former Board Trustees, who read a resolution celebrating Wright’s accomplishments and national-board certification. In a video shown to the board Wright said, “I really think that taking the time to get to know your students very well really sets up the rest of the school year for you.” Students who appeared in the video described Wright’s kindness and energy and credited her with helping them improve academically.
The resolution notes Wright’s role as a team lead at McWhirter Elementary and her work mentoring other educators; district leaders said there will be additional celebrations in the coming weeks as she prepares to represent Texas at the national level. The board’s presentation included remarks about the district’s broader efforts to recognize teaching excellence and support professional development.
