City manager reports new Elm Street signal operational, upcoming openings and community events

The city manager reported a series of operational updates and community events during the council meeting.
The new traffic signal at Old Jacksonville Highway and Capitol Drive is fully operational, the manager said, and Brookshire's is completing final driveway work and anticipates opening later this week or early next week. The manager thanked Striping Technology and the city’s traffic operations team for delivering the signal ahead of schedule.
On urban forestry, staff and volunteers distributed 1,500 oak, pecan and persimmon seedlings to about 265 people at the annual seedling giveaway, an event held each February to help restore the city’s tree canopy. The manager also reported that the Tyler Tomorrow comprehensive-plan open house drew more than 80 residents and stakeholders, and the draft plan page has received 322 views with 121 document downloads.
Council members praised staff and local partners for coordination on events and infrastructure. The manager encouraged continued participation in the comp-plan process and local events. These were informational items; no formal council action was required beyond acknowledgment.
