LCSD #1 trustees approve budget transfers, special-education contract and supply agreements

The Laramie County School District #1 Board of Trustees voted to amend fund classifications and approve several contracts during the meeting.
Trustees approved a budget transfer moving $230,000 from capital outlay to general support in the capital projects fund, and changes in the Special Building Fund that transfer $275,000 from capital outlay to instruction and $350,000 from capital outlay to general support. District finance staff explained the capital-to-general-support transfer reflects revised charter school lease reimbursements from the state’s school-facilities division and said a portion of the Special Building Fund transfer will address an extensive hail-insurance claim from the past August and pay for repair or replacement of roughly 84–85 damaged district vehicles; the $275,000 allocation to instruction was described as funding instructional furniture for the McCormick Junior High remodel.
Board members voted by voice to approve the amendment.
The board also granted permission to contract with BOCES 5 for an amount not to exceed $762,644 to provide residential placements for several special-education students at an out-of-district facility in western Wyoming; district staff said those special-education expenses are reimbursable. Trustees approved a contract for warehouse stock supplies not to exceed $275,000.
Separately, the board moved to defer action on a previously proposed update to the district’s facility-use fee schedule until the Feb. 9, 2026 meeting to allow staff to explore alternatives and review public feedback.
Finally, trustees moved into executive session to discuss possible long-term suspensions, expulsions, personnel matters and receive legal advice.
