Henrico board names Tuckahoe Middle School auditorium for longtime music educator Kirkland Jackson

The Henrico County School Board voted on Oct. 23 to name the new Tuckahoe Middle School auditorium in memory of Henrico County music educator Kirkland Jackson.
The presiding officer moved to name the facility the "Kirkland Jackson Auditorium" and to waive the 30-day review period. Mister Young seconded the motion and the board approved it by voice vote. The board described Jackson as an educator whose teaching "inspired students to pursue musical excellence" and as someone who "dedicated himself to helping each [student] find and amplify their unique voice."
The naming recommendation was described by the board as supported by staff, families, and music educators across the county. A printed copy of the principal's letter in support of the naming was presented to the honored family member in attendance. The board returned to its regular agenda after completing the naming and other recognitions.
