At the DeBary public safety briefing, presenters described multiple theft reports at Araya assisted nursing home (838 Signature Drive) in which residents' property was allegedly taken and pawned.
Unidentified Speaker 2 said four cases were reported and that the matter was turned over to CID. Unidentified Speaker 3 identified the accused as a staff member known as 'Sean' and said investigators found the defendant had pawned about 92–93 pieces of jewelry and that two of the related cases produced arrests. "He had pawned 92 to 93 pieces of jewelry," Unidentified Speaker 3 said.
Unidentified Speaker 3 added that one report involving $300 was sent to the state attorney for a warrant but the warrant was denied, and that the subject was bonded out of the Seminole County Jail and is awaiting court dates. City officials and other participants expressed concern about victim vulnerability in memory‑care settings and said the cases had been publicized to seek other victims.
No charges list or court outcomes were presented at the briefing beyond the arrest and bonding details given by investigators. Officials said CID is continuing the probe and asked any additional victims to report alleged losses to investigators.
