The Richmond Heights Committee of the Whole on Feb. 10 approved Resolution 19-2026, which authorizes the city to sell personal property no longer needed for public use by internet auction through GovDeals.com.
A staff member identified as Brian explained that the resolution is an annual authorization used to dispose of obsolete equipment and vehicles. He said the city's current backup chipper requires significant work and is the type of equipment the city would offer for surplus sale or replacement. Brian asked whether certain items could be offered to residents before being sent to auction; staff said the surplus process must comply with statutory sale procedures.
Council members responded in the affirmative during roll call and the committee recommended the resolution for passage.
The resolution cites the city's authority to sell property no longer needed for public use and authorizes GovDeals.com to administer the online auction process.
