The Goodhue County sheriff read aloud a letter from the Minnesota POST (Peace Officer Standards and Training) board during the Jan. 14 meeting that commended the sheriff's office for training compliance and recognized the department's training sergeant.
In the letter, the POST board noted: "Out of 396 law enforcement agencies in the state of Minnesota, [the county] is the only agency where every officer eligible to renew has completed every required course." The sheriff read the letter and introduced Sergeant Matt Hahn as the department's administrative sergeant and training coordinator.
Commissioners praised the sergeant and the department for consistent training work. Sergeant Matt Hahn, introduced by the sheriff, thanked staff for completing trainings when reminded and said the recognition reflects the work of many employees.
The letter and public thanks were entered into the meeting record as an informational recognition; no formal action was required.
