Valley Golf Course seeks board recommendation for two-year school agreement and fee changes

Andrew Robertson, speaking for the Valley Golf Course Association Board, asked trustees to recommend approval of a two-year agreement to continue providing middle- and high-school golf benefits to district athletes and to accept proposed fee adjustments for 2026 and 2027.
Robertson said the district currently pays a top header amount (discussed as $7,500) and that the proposal changes junior membership and usage fees for the coming years. "So basically, when they're on the golf team, they get their membership through the golf year. And then once the golf year is done, it's half of what the normal membership is," Robertson explained when board members asked how the junior and family rates would work.
Trustees asked procedural questions about whether an approval is needed tonight; the presenter said he would supply a written contract and the district will place that item on the agenda for formal approval at the next meeting. Board members discussed locker/storage issues for student bags at the course and the possibility of installing proper-size lockers; Robertson said the course upgraded range facilities and clubhouse security recently and will discuss locker options with the general manager.
Outcome: board did not vote on the agreement at this meeting; staff will prepare a draft contract and return it for formal approval at the next scheduled meeting.
