"Space is extremely limited both inside the school and around athletic facilities," Stengel told the board, describing repeated difficulty storing equipment and noting the field shelter provides limited shade during warm months. He said boosters plan two fundraisers (a telethon and a bingo night) and that the program already has about $8,000 in its Fund 21 account that could be applied to construction. He added local contractors have expressed interest; one (KNE Construction) offered to pour a slab potentially at little or no cost.
Stengel said the plan would aim for completion before the 2026 fall season and that he had reached out to girls-soccer representatives about partnership. Board members asked about ownership and maintenance; staff said structures built on district property would become the district's asset and that any private work would require written agreements and proper insurance. The board agreed the concept is promising but asked for a written proposal and encouraged trustees to visit the proposed site before voting.
