Frontier Academy students describe four-day week and extracurricular opportunities to the board

Three student representatives from Frontier Academy told the board their charter’s small-school model, four-day week and robust extracurriculars give students more opportunities and asked the board to consider supporting their wish-week fundraising.
Three Frontier Academy student representatives spoke to the GreeleySchool District No. 6 board on Feb. 9 about their school’s structure and student opportunities.
Amalia Cottrell, a sophomore, described Frontier as a smaller school that allows students to participate in many activities and praised the school’s close community. Josh LeClere, a senior, and Caden Clark, a senior, also described the school’s extracurricular offerings, including jazz band, athletics and National Honor Society, and noted the school’s four-day week and combined grades 6–12 building as distinguishing features.
The students said they did not have a formal request of the board but invited trustees to support their wish-week fundraising and other student initiatives. The board thanked the students and trustees and student representatives exchanged brief comments of appreciation.
Board members emphasized that student presentations are a valued part of meetings and wished the students well for the remainder of the semester.
