At the meeting, Speaker 4 moved that the board set a hearing on March 31 “for the Stoney Creek and tributaries, for the proposed, minimum dollar $50 minimum parcel, $10 an acreage and a $150 a home site. In 8 years.” Speaker 2 seconded the motion, and the board approved it by voice vote.
Board discussion before the motion reviewed administrative constraints and the mechanics of forest and right-of-way rates. Speaker 6 said some forest-rate classifications are lower and that changes to rates may require a public hearing; the board agreed formal notice was appropriate. Speakers noted low per-acre revenues for some tracts (examples cited in discussion: $1.25–$1.50 per acre in prior calculations) and stressed the need to balance fairness with program solvency.
The hearing will be the formal opportunity for landowners and other interested parties to comment on the proposed structure and term length.
