Council advances daycare special exception and duplex zoning applications to full council

At the Committee of the Whole on Jan. 26 the council voted to forward several zoning matters to the full council with favorable recommendations.
Bill 02‑26: Zoning staff described a special exception to allow a daycare use at 1114 South Mayflower Road (an S‑1 suburban district site). Petitioner David Turner said the intent is to operate a licensed childcare center serving voucher‑eligible families with proposed hours approximately 7 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. and a target opening within 9–12 months. The committee moved Bill 02‑26 to the full council with a favorable recommendation (roll call 8‑0).
Bills 03‑26 / 04‑26: The zoning administrator presented two related special exceptions for 1307 and 1301 Corby Boulevard to demolish existing single‑family homes and replace them with side‑by‑side duplexes designed to align with the Northeast neighborhood plan and to access rear alleys. Petitioner Alyssa Gonzoric said these are small infill projects intended to blend with the neighborhood. Both bills were sent to the full council with favorable recommendations (committee roll calls recorded as 8‑0 each).
