A Senate committee voted to advance SB 416, a bill that would align New Hampshire's tip-pooling and tip-sharing statutes with federal Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) rules. Sponsor Senator Tim McHugh said the change addresses a longstanding compliance problem for small hospitality businesses: "Under current New Hampshire law, the tip related rules are pretty ambiguous and open to changing interpretation by the Department of Labor," he told the committee.
