The Wellington Board of Trustees approved three resolutions during its Feb. 10 meeting. Key outcomes and vote results are summarized below.
Resolution 03-2026 — Support and authorize application to the Colorado Energy Office Local Impact Accelerator for housing affordability (presented by Planning Director Cody Byrd). The town submitted a letter of intent and was named a finalist; staff proposed projects including nexus and feasibility studies, ADU incentive policies and potential grant-funded revenue offsets to reduce developer impact fees. Byrd said Wellington qualified for a zero-match option and included a vision budget in the application up to $2,000,000. The board voted to authorize submission of a full application. Public testimony in support was given by Aaron Blackstone of the Wellington Housing Authority.
Resolution 04-2026 — Adjust appropriations for fiscal year 2026 (presented by Finance Director Nick Redavid). The resolution authorized rolling over under-spent 2025 capital appropriations, reassigning funds within water and sewer enterprise funds to prioritize critical projects, and appropriating remaining loan proceeds (about $780,000) to the water-reclamation facility expansion to ensure project timelines and favorable costs; board adopted the resolution by roll call.
Resolution 05-2026 — Approve letter of engagement for special legal counsel for metropolitan-district representation (presented by Town Administrator Patty Garcia). The board authorized hiring outside counsel to prepare a draft template service plan and advise the town on statutory compliance and safeguard provisions should a developer pursue a metro district; board approved the engagement and staff will coordinate next steps with counsel.
Votes at a glance (final roll-call outcomes recorded in meeting): all three resolutions passed by affirmative roll-call votes.
