The Hanover Area School District Board of Education on Feb. 10 approved routine minutes and a slate of financial and personnel recommendations, appointed a new paraprofessional and heard a public comment urging staff to review its check‑registry software.
Superintendent Daniel Malloy opened the meeting by announcing recent executive sessions held Feb. 6 and Feb. 10 to discuss employee relations, labor negotiations and threatened or actual litigation, and he thanked Hanover Township officials for their assistance with winter weather operations. "Their cooperation has exceeded all expectations," Malloy said.
The board accepted minutes from the reorganization meeting (Dec. 4, 2025), the Jan. 13, 2026 regular meeting and several interdistrict board minutes by motion and voice vote.
Public comment: Mike Bosco, identified as a resident of the township, told the board he believed the district’s check registry is limited by a character limit that prevents sufficiently detailed descriptions. "I've kinda heard about the check registry and the amount of characters that are allowed, and that's, I believe, what's causing the problem," Bosco said, and asked the district to explore alternative software options. District staff replied that the matter could be examined and that the consultant referenced in the discussion, Barrett, serves as a grants consultant for the district.
Financial and personnel actions: The board moved to accept financial recommendations numbered 1 through 10. During roll call, most members voted in favor; board member Reddick announced he voted no on items 1, 2, 7 and 8 and yes on the remaining items. The motion carried.
Personnel recommendations numbered 1 through 7 were approved by roll call. For personnel item 8, the board read and approved the appointment of Kaylee Stoffel as a paraprofessional at a rate of $20 per hour, contingent upon satisfactory completion of all preemployment requirements.
Student recognition: Principal John Seffert introduced the district’s January student of the month, Aidan Neland, who described his extracurricular involvement and thanked teachers and family for their support. Seffert and Superintendent Malloy noted recent athletic achievements in basketball, wrestling and cheerleading and said the district plans to honor teams at a future meeting.
The board announced its next regular meeting for Tuesday, March 10, 2026, and adjourned. No votes on ordinances or policies were taken beyond the administrative and personnel items recorded.
What happens next: Staff indicated they will follow up on the check‑registry concern and can provide additional information at a future meeting. The appointment of Kaylee Stoffel takes effect contingent on completion of hiring checks and required preemployment steps.
