RSU 4 updates communications platform, registration workflow and literacy review

The RSU 4 board received updates on district technology and curriculum work from the curriculum, assessment and instruction and technology committee.
Technology: the Reach My Teach two‑way communication platform has been implemented at the high school and middle school to connect staff, students and families via text, email or WhatsApp; the superintendent and committee representatives said the platform requires no extra app download and is currently free for the district this year, with an expected lower cost for next year. Staff are preparing standardized email signatures and cohesive school logos for RSU 4 and individual schools.
Enrollment workflow: the committee reported pre‑K and kindergarten registration materials will be set up so parent entries flow directly into PowerSchool to minimize data‑entry errors. An informational night for parents is planned for April.
Curriculum: a literacy curriculum review committee has convened to evaluate K–8 literacy materials, draw staff and student input, and order samples of comprehensive literacy programs; the committee will make recommendations and budget requests as appropriate.
The committee also mentioned a small assessment window (January–February) for students in various grades; exit criteria and scoring thresholds were discussed and may change in the spring.
