Hamtramck — The Hamtramck City Council voted on Feb. 10 to temporarily change the start time of two upcoming council meetings during Ramadan to 4:00 p.m.
Council members discussed options and expressed support for an earlier meeting time so members and residents could be with family for Iftar. The resolution specified two dates — Feb. 24 and March 10 — as the meetings affected by the temporary change.
Several council members said a 4:00 p.m. start would let the meeting run an hour to two hours and allow attendees to break the fast on time. The resolution passed by roll call.
The city clerk recorded the approval and staff will publish the schedule change and related notices for residents.
