Kirksville council reappoints several commission members, appoints one new member to Affordable Housing Board

The Kirksville City Council on Feb. 9 approved a slate of reappointments to local boards and commissions and appointed one new member to the Affordable Housing Board.
City Manager Mary Macomber told the council that the appointments numbered as Items 3, 5 and 6 were final allowable reappointments under the city's policy and that the council is encouraged to consider other candidates when terms expire. The council reappointed Martin Jane (serving since 2009) and John Nash (serving since 2022) to the Watershed Management Commission for three-year terms expiring in March 2029.
The council appointed Derek Miller to fill the remainder of a three-year term on the Affordable Housing Board, expiring January 2028. Macomber said Miller constructs and renovates houses and indicated there is nothing in city policy that prohibits him from serving on the board; Miller agreed to serve.
Bill Castles was reappointed to the Kirksville Historic Preservation Commission for a three-year term ending February 2029. Carolyn Cox was reappointed to the Lakes Parks & Recreation Commission for a three-year term expiring January 2029; Macomber noted she has served on LPRC since 2005. Council approved all appointments and reappointments by voice vote.
The city manager also noted one vacancy on LPRC remains open and that applications are being accepted through Feb. 17 at 5:00 p.m.
