Broussard council approved funding to advance the Lafayette Street Connector project after hearing from Walter of Como Engineering. Walter explained the plan to reconnect Lafayette Street to Main Street, modify intersection geometry, and convert an existing through street (Madison) to a non‑through configuration to support new City Hall parking and pedestrian access. He said the city now owns the old school and the linkage will provide access and parking options; minor drainage and grade work may be required.
Walter indicated the engineering work could be completed in “a couple of 3 months” after council direction and that temporary signage had been placed earlier that day. Council members approved the budget amendment to allow engineering and initial work to proceed.
