The Broussard City Council on Feb. 10 approved a contract award for the Main Street Beautification Project. Joseph Marino of DDG presented the proposed improvements: a gateway feature at the ‘Celebrity’ location (a smaller version of the South Bernard gateway), signage at Arsenal Park and installation of decor pads with tie‑downs and electrical access for seasonal displays. Marino said two competitive bids were received, recommending Southern Constructors for the $188,500 contract; Acadian Construction Services submitted the other responsive bid.
Marino told the council the project falls within an existing $500,000 beautification allocation and no budget amendment is required. The city engineer and staff reviewed contract drafts and schedules included in council packets. Council members voted to approve the resolution to accept the lowest responsive bid and authorize contract execution.
