At its regular meeting, the Griffith Public Schools Board of Trustees reorganized leadership and approved a slate of routine items including several program and course approvals.
A motion to reorganize the board listed officers as President Emily Connor, First Vice President Jesse Adducci, Second Vice President Tina Adams, Secretary Kathy Ruskin and Assistant Secretary Jason Jacques; the motion was seconded and carried. The board also confirmed committee assignments: Tina Adams will remain the Griffith Park Board representative and Jason Jacques will serve as the school board delegate and legislative liaison.
The board unanimously approved the consent agenda and acknowledged donations and fundraisers supporting district activities, including donations for an Easter egg hunt and contributions to the Panther Closet. The park board accepted a bid to renovate the baseball fields, which the board noted will move forward.
On curriculum and programs, the board approved kindergarten roundup dates for 2026–2027, changes to the Wadsworth high-ability program to allow subject-specific placement, documentation for online/highly-online instruction, a new athlete leadership club, an emergency telecommunicator certification course for pathway students, and a new AP Research course for high-school students. The board also approved a partnership with Heartland Sports Network/WJOB to use an on-campus choir room in exchange for covering graduation costs (noted as more than $8,000 per year) and providing student internship opportunities.
What happens next: Appointed officers and committee delegates will assume their duties; staff will proceed with planned facility work and finalize program logistics and partnerships.
