Sponsors said the Climate Action and Resilience Committee had difficulty maintaining regular meetings and that other city bodies, the internal climate team and regional collaborations (Project 46) will continue carrying climate work.
Public commenters and some commissioners urged care in preserving legislative oversight of climate-action implementation, recommending annual reporting or dashboard metrics tied to Climate Action Plan targets. Council members and supporters said they share those concerns and noted forthcoming greenhouse-gas reporting and potential assignment of council liaisons to internal teams or regional efforts to ensure continued oversight.
The resolution passed by unanimous roll-call vote. Council and the public suggested follow-up actions including structured reporting on climate targets and incorporation of oversight items into the Committee on Council Processes’ agenda.
