Blount County holds zoning hearing on parcels along U.S. 411; no public comment

Blount County held a zoning public hearing Thursday to consider a request to rezone a 4.615-acre portion of a 7.263-acre tract at 5220 and 5226 U.S. Highway 411 S. from "R 1 Bridal District 1" to "R A C Rural Arterial Commercial District." The chair opened the meeting and asked the clerk to take the roll before the hearing began.

The clerk read the formal call of the hearing, identifying the property as part of tax map 100, parcels 9 and 9.01. As the clerk read the item, she summarized the rezoning proposal: "Zoning public hearing to amend the zoning map of Blount County, Tennessee from R 1 Bridal District 1 to R A C Rural Arterial Commercial District for a 4.615 acre portion of a 7.263 acre tract located at 5220 and 5226 U.S. Highway 411 South." The clerk also noted attendance: "Mister chairman, you have 14 members present," and specifically mentioned Commissioner McMahon as included in that count.

After reading the call, the chair opened the floor for public comment, asking residents to raise their hands if they wished to speak. When no one indicated a desire to comment, the chair closed the hearing, saying, "Seeing no hands, seeing no potential speakers, I will now close the zoning public hearing." The chair then adjourned the brief hearing.
