Commissioner Boyce promotes Soul Talk mental-health series and distribution of expanded resource book

Commissioner Boyce used the general session to update the public on the county's Soul Talk mental-health initiative. She said the most recent Soul Talk event sold out quickly and the county moved the program to Afrocentric School to double capacity; the free event was scheduled for Wednesday, Feb. 11 with check-in at 5:30 p.m. and program at 6:00 p.m.
Boyce said the program is a partnership with City of Grace Church and outside organizations, including nationally invited panelists, and that the county will distribute a refreshed and expanded mental-health resource book (She and staff referenced producing "four times as many" copies as last year). She encouraged residents to attend and said the Soul Talk model will continue with community partners so the county does not carry the full logistical and financial burden.
The announcement closed the meeting and the board adjourned.
