Citing available funds in the volunteer fire fund and the current year’s fire budget, Speaker 1 asked the board to approve $20,000 to ensure the engineering and preliminary drawings would cover design and initial engineering expenses.
Speaker 4 moved to approve $20,000 for engineering and drawings; Speaker 5 seconded. The board voted in favor by voice vote.
Speaker 1 said they plan to use the Cedar Main Station footprint on 800 West as a reference and requested a “pretty good set of plans” to generate a cost breakdown that could be shared with the funding committee. The chair noted the money would come from the current fire budget and the town’s fire fund, which staff said currently has a balance sufficient to cover the allocation.
What’s next: Staff will commission the engineering drawings, produce a cost breakdown for further committee review, and return to the board with firm estimates for construction and a recommended funding strategy.
