Prince George’s County Council adopted a resolution supporting the DMV Moves regional transit investment and action plan, which staff said includes an estimated $460 million per year funding need beginning FY2028.
The Prince George’s County Council adopted resolution CR7-12-26 on Feb. 10 endorsing the DMV Moves regional transit investment and action plan, a 25-year regional vision approved by the Metropolitan Washington Council of Governments and WMATA.
Staff briefed the council on the plan and said it addresses capital and operating needs, service integration and a predictable funding network. The staff overview noted an estimated funding target of about $460 million per year starting in FY2028 and said collaboration among federal, state and local jurisdictions will be required to implement the plan. "This plan establishes a long term vision and sustainable funding network for the transit system serving the national capital region," staff said.
Council members moved to suspend the rules and adopt the resolution; a recorded roll call followed and the resolution passed with a recorded vote of 10–0.
Next steps: The county will communicate its endorsement to regional partners as requested; staff will continue coordination with the General Assembly committee tracking relevant state funding and legislation.
