City Manager Jordan told the Laramie City Council on Dec. 9 that the city shifted patient‑transfer responsibility from the Laramie Fire Department to Ivinson Memorial Hospital on Sept. 1, 2025. "This separation did occur on 09/01/2025," she said, describing the change in responsibilities.
Jordan said Laramie Fire Department continues to respond to 911 medical calls and fire calls, while the hospital’s new transport service handles transfers between facilities. She also said the city contracted with a third‑party billing company to bill for E911 services, a function previously performed by Ivinson. "The city had to do extensive work this year to contract with a billing company to bill for our 911 services as that billing had previously been conducted by Ivinson Memorial Hospital," Jordan said.
Budget and monitoring: Jordan noted the city is three months into the new billing arrangement and that medical billing commonly lags; fire‑department staff will work with the third‑party biller to assess receivables and ensure appropriate oversight.
What’s next: Staff will continue to evaluate collections and report back as needed; councilors expressed positive anecdotal feedback from hospital leadership about the new transfer arrangement.
