Miss Sessory moved the motion, which Miss Bartlemy seconded. The motion approves using city CIP funds to support completion of the Providence vestibule, contingent upon Fairfax County Public Schools’ approval for the city to reimburse FCPS for executing the work. The chair asked the superintendent to work with FCPS to request a 30% contribution from the county because roughly 30% of Providence students attend from outside the city; board members noted FCPS is funding vestibules at other schools and agreed to seek shared cost participation.
The board took the vote after brief discussion of design and anticipated costs; members were unanimous in saying “aye” and the motion passed without recorded dissents. The motion included direction for the superintendent to coordinate with FCPS on reimbursement terms and timing and to provide cost information as bids and designs are finalized.
This formal action follows the facilities presentation earlier in the meeting that described summer work and ongoing projects, including vestibule work at Daniels Run and Providence. Board members indicated they will discuss bid estimates and cost allocation as design and procurement proceed.
