"We had a good conversation," one committee member said, describing the meeting as constructive and noting plans to continue monthly discussions between county and tribal officials on issues that include towers, roundabout planning and trail access.
Separately, members discussed questions about a possible countywide fire district. The chair and several members said they want more information and documentation before pursuing formal action; Bass Lake had already passed a resolution, they said. Committee members recommended collecting facts, engaging fire chiefs and using the county fire association as a forum to assess feasibility before bringing any formal proposal to the county board.
No formal action was taken; members agreed to gather data and maintain communication with tribal leaders and local fire officials.
