Hessel also reported the Thrive grama grant focus has shifted: rather than funding a business and marketing plan for a county business incubator, the work will analyze local and regional entrepreneur organizations and determine how those entities can better support Sawyer County entrepreneurs. She said more information will be available next month.
Hessel said an out-of-area builder with experience using creative funding for housing in small communities (examples referenced included Two Harbors and Grand Marais) is assembling a plan for Sawyer County. Committee members briefly asked about a proposed commercial EV charging station; Hessel said the EDC director had not provided an update and the transcript contains no further detail.
