The Board of Public Works approved construction change order No. 4 for the wastewater treatment plant project, an approximately $145,000 increase staff said addresses 17 additional items identified by operations personnel.
Roger told the board the extras include safety-related items (stairs where staff had been using ladders), temporary blower hookups while units were repaired or repositioned, and cleanup associated with flood-related mud and damaged equipment. Staff said many items were not visible until the contractor opened covered areas and that several items were judged necessary for safe, long-term operation.
The item includes an incorporated schedule allowance of 154 calendar days, largely tied to electrical equipment shipping and related sequencing; staff said the additional time was priced into the change order and should not trigger further cost claims. Board members requested more transparent time-and-materials detail for certain line items; staff agreed to provide contractor-level breakout and invoices in future change-order packets.
A motion to approve was made and carried by voice vote. Staff said some remaining roof/structural repairs will proceed as an insurance claim and a separate punch list (digester roof work was noted as carrying into summer).
