City staff told developers they will ask the City Council on Dec. 2 to adopt an updated map of capacity-constrained areas for the wastewater collection system and to roll out a set of voluntary incentives to identify and address private sewer lateral problems.
The move is intended to make it easier for new development to find wastewater offsets and to reduce the risk of spills associated with private lateral failures. "This is the underlying dataset that drives the offset program," Chris Lehman, deputy director of wastewater utilities, said during the meeting. He noted the map and related materials will be posted on the city website.
