Stephenson County approves local-funded grant for Cedarville Road project

Speaker 3 introduced the item as “one of the grants we got for local funded funding is 100% funding, but we have put a dollar value in there in case it it goes over budget,” and said the county will cover any excess as needed. During discussion staff said the project will include roadway segments but that intersection improvements — including a planned roundabout — currently lack construction funding.
Speaker 3 said the county had applied for Highway Safety Improvement Program (HSIP) funds for the roundabout and was rejected, and that staff plans to reapply next year: “We submitted HSIP funds for the roundabout, got rejected. So I'm gonna reapply next year for HSIP funds for it.” The board took a voice vote and approved the motion to accept HD 2603.
