Placer County Sheriff’s representative Jason Doolittle reported to the Loomis council on Jan. statistics and local incidents, noting 251 calls for service in January and 35 reports taken overall. He singled out a high‑value theft at Costco and two commercial burglaries as notable investigations and said deputies will continue targeted enforcement for speeding, stop-sign violations and DUI in neighborhoods identified as hotspots. Doolittle also said the office obtained an ABC grant to support underage-alcohol compliance operations and anticipated a multi‑day enforcement operation in the coming weeks.
South Placer Fire’s new chief, Darin Snedeker, introduced himself and summarized district activity, noting a steady call volume trend over the year and describing a late-evening residential attic fire where crews stopped spread and salvaged belongings. Snedeker invited the community to a badge recognition ceremony Feb. 25 and noted an ongoing focus on risk management and crew training.
Council members thanked both agencies for the updates and asked follow-up questions about targeted traffic enforcement and coordination with town staff on monitoring any impacts of large events or policy changes (including the proposed entertainment zone). The sheriff indicated the office will respond to calls for service in the EZ area as with other public-right-of-way incidents and that public intoxication remains enforceable.
