Councilmembers debated whether the town should rely on HOAs to police mailbox disputes, or whether a municipal prohibition would be a useful, limited tool for officers to use when calls escalate.
"We don't intend to drive around these neighborhoods and...write the ordinance; it’s just a tool for us to help resolve a situation so that two neighbors don't end up fist fighting in the street," said Speaker 11, describing intended limited enforcement use. Other council members emphasized community education as a first step and urged use of the communications department to inform residents about parking rules.
No vote was taken; staff said they and legal counsel will prepare ordinance language and the item can be scheduled for a future council agenda if members want to proceed.
