During the Oct. 24 meeting, Speaker 11 reported that North Wasco County SD 21 is in compliance with most Division 22 public‑school standards for the 2023–24 school year but identified one exception related to athletics and interscholastic activities (cited in the meeting as OER 581-022-2308). The presenter said the district missed updating the corresponding policy in the last round of policy updates and will bring a first reading tonight and a second reading/adoption in November to restore compliance.
Speaker 11 explained that superintendents must report to the community by Nov. 1 each year on compliance with Division 22 standards and that the district will submit the required Smartsheet report to the Oregon Department of Education noting any out‑of‑compliance items and the district’s action plan.
The board asked no substantive questions and Speaker 11 said staff will provide the policy language ahead of the November meeting.
