Board appoints negotiating team and holds two executive sessions

The board convened two executive sessions during the Feb. 9 meeting: an earlier session for non‑elected personnel and a later session for employer‑employee negotiations, plus a separate executive session for attorney consultation. All sessions were announced under the Kansas Open Meetings Act and described in motions recorded to the minutes.

Following the executive session on negotiations trustees approved a motion appointing Amy Sloan, Amy Joy Troyer, Beth Maddox and David Cunningham to represent the district for negotiations. The motion was seconded and the board voted in favor by voice; the transcript records the affirmative voice vote and the chair’s acknowledgment.

There was also a motion to go into executive session for consultation with the district’s attorneys; the board invited Dr. Adams and legal representatives to attend. The board later returned to open session and continued regular business.

What’s next: the appointed negotiating representatives will proceed with employer‑employee negotiations and will report back to the board in public session as required by statute.
