Lockport extends state and federal lobbying contracts and approves enterprise-zone ordinance updates

City Attorney/Staff (Speaker 10) asked council to extend SAQ Consulting—s professional service agreement for three years (Jan. 2025—Dec. 2027). "They—ve been successful in bringing actual appropriated dollars to us, in excess of $2,000,000 in just the last fiscal year alone," Speaker 10 said. The contract includes about a 3% increase.
Speaker 10 also presented a one-year extension of Ty Ginsburg and Associates for federal lobbying to pursue potential Corps of Engineers and other infrastructure appropriations, noting possible projects with multi-million-dollar potential. Separately, two ordinances (24-028 and 24-029) amend Lockport—s designated sections of the Des Plaines River Enterprise Zone in coordination with Joliet, Romeoville, Rockdale and Will County; the amendments allow partner members to exchange designated acreage (example cited: Rock Run Crossing where a casino relocation is planned).
These items were placed on the consent agenda and were approved by council action.
