The Madison Board of Education on Feb. 11 approved a slate of routine motions by unanimous roll call votes.
Financials and donations: The board approved the January 2026 financial statements (treasurer reported general fund revenues of about $17,250,000, expenditures of about $18,790,000, ending fund balance $327,339) and accepted a list of donations to district schools (including weighted blankets, clothing, gift cards, books and meal donations).
Personnel and contracts: The board approved personnel recommendations that included accepting a resignation (Ms. Howie, preschool secretary), hiring substitute teachers (including Lynn Weber), transfers (Nicole Skidmore), issuing a continuing contract to Melanie Lawson, a pay-scale adjustment for Lisa Schaffer, and an amended retirement effective date for a principal (Ms. Craigmont). The board approved these items by roll call (motion carries five-zero).
Appointments and memberships: The board approved annual membership in the Ohio High School Athletic Association for 2026–27; appointed Alexandria Akagi to the Madison Public Library Board of Trustees; appointed Dana Clark as a backdated volunteer assistant; and approved Mister Whaley's appointment to the Madison Recreation Board of Trustees. All motions carried by unanimous roll call.
Executive session: The board voted to enter executive session to discuss matters related to public employees and investigations; the president stated no official business would be taken after the session.
