Texarkana Youth Advisory Council summarizes YAC Summit and outreach ideas

Members of the Texarkana Youth Advisory Council reported to the City Council on Feb. 9 about their 2026 YAC Summit experience in Cedar Hill and suggested outreach ideas.
Trinity Chase, YAC president, said the Jan. 30–Feb. 1 summit drew more than 300 youth advisory councils and included a keynote speaker on mental health, breakout sessions on healthy relationships and leadership, and social events that helped the local delegation bond. YAC members suggested giving practical, reusable items — such as small bottles of hand sanitizer with the city name — as an alternative to single-use promotional items at future summits to maintain visibility and usefulness.
Council members thanked the youth delegates and advisers for their leadership and encouraged continued engagement with city government. No action or funding was requested at the meeting.
