Robert Gill, Sheridan County Airport Manager, told commissioners he received another two‑week notice from a maintenance technician and currently has two vacancies in maintenance, asking permission to replace those positions. "We did a good job hiring talent. He was a diesel type mechanic, but while working on our snow removal equipment, it got offered a position doing mechanic out of line for a much higher salary," Gill said, describing recruitment and salary pressures.
A commissioner moved to allow the airport to refill the maintenance position; another commissioner seconded the motion. The board voted by voice: all in favor said "aye," and the chairman announced the motion passes.
Gill said recruiting has produced few applications (two applications in three weeks for one opening) and noted workload challenges tied to seasonal snow‑removal demands. Commissioners approved the request and did not attach additional conditions.
