Sheridan County commissioners approve filling vacant deputy treasurer post

Sheridan County commissioners voted Dec. 1 to allow Treasurer Katie Harris to fill a vacant deputy treasurer position following an employee's resignation effective Dec. 5.
Katie Harris told the board the vacancy is already budgeted and that filling it will help the office maintain public service levels and support remaining staff during a staffing transition. "I respectfully request approval to fill the vacant deputy treasurer position caused by this resignation," Harris said.
A commissioner moved to approve the treasurer's request and another seconded; the board approved the motion by voice vote. County staff did not record individual roll-call votes on the record during the meeting. Harris thanked the board and noted the office will continue to post common information on the county website and respond to email inquiries while staffing adjusts.
The action requires the treasurer's office to proceed with recruitment and hire under the county's existing budgeted authority. The board did not add any additional funds during the meeting and provided no new conditions attached to the authorization.
