Parks committee advances $300,000 DCNR grant for MLK Trail Phase 2

The Parks and Recreation Committee voted to forward Bill 94 to the full Allentown City Council. The bill proposes a $300,000 supplemental appropriation from the Pennsylvania Department of Conservation and Natural Resources (DCNR) to support construction of the base for MLK Trail Phase 2.
Mr. Hanlon summarized the proposal on behalf of the agenda item, saying, "20 25 capital of 1 budget to provide for supplemental appropriation of $300,000 from the Pennsylvania Department of Conservation and Natural Resources to support construction of the MLK Trail base." Miss Delino described the project’s scope, saying, "This is a grant award from DCNR to, towards the MLK Trail Phase 2, which will eventually connect, Fountain Park, Leah Parkway to Cedar Beach."
After the presentation the chair asked for questions from committee members, non-committee members and the public; none were raised. The chair then moved the bill "to move this forward favorably into full council" and recorded a second. A voice vote followed; the chair recorded "All in favor, aye," and the item was sent on to the next council meeting for consideration.
The committee did not record individual roll-call votes or name the member(s) who seconded the motion in the meeting record. The next formal step is consideration by the full Allentown City Council.
